About TED x SriSairamIT
TEDxSriSairamIT is an independent organisation run by a forceful team of students from Sri Sairam Institute of Technology. It aims at delivering the prominent concept of TED to the community by laying down a broad platform to unfold the ideas worth sharing. The event involves experts in from various fields to unpack their facts, issues and ideas in an 18-minute talk run under license from TED. Hailing from a spectrum of engineering disciplines, the organizers have a common aspiration of giving voice to those creators, thinkers and innovators known for their experienced outlook and unbridled passion.

Bearing the theme Right, Wrong, and Beyond, TEDxSriSairamIT18 is ready to roll out the red carpet, providing a better leverage to the students of Sri Sairam Institute of Technology. The event will include a mix of live presenters and screening of thought provoking TED Talks videos. One good event, where one can bear witness to the ideas that are changing the society. Learn new things. Be inspired.

Maya S. Krishnan

Maya S Krishnan is an Indian actress hailing from Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Since she is an ardent lover of children, she wanted to be a hospital-clown as she strongly believed that laughter is the best medicine. She pursued her engineering degree in Bangalore, but later went on to follow her dream of becoming a cinema actor. She enjoys being a theatrical performer. She has won the hearts of many with her acting skills. It was during her college days that she got her first film call to work in James Vasanthan’s Vaanavil Vazhkai. She is now currently working in two star-studded films, Dhruva Natchatram and 2.0. She is also a professional singer, gymnast and model. Maya is multifaceted and with her natural knack for acting she is sure to become a priceless asset of Indian film industry.

Vishnu Vardhan and Divya Shetty

Vishnu Vardhan and Divya Shetty are the co-founders of Indian Superheroes and Plantcil , the social enterprises aimed at introducing people to organic and zero-waste farming. Today, the two young and exuberant entrepreneurs have come through a long way from just 2 aspirants to 843 organic farmers, 12 NGOs, and over 200 tribals, making their noble initiative a critical success. Vardhan and Shetty are the best in the business, transfiguring recycled papers into pencils. Also,they collect newspapers from various schools in Coimbatore and in exchange, provide them with monthly supply of pencils, thus fulfilling their ardent goals of social entrepreneurship. With fan following that spans across generations, Vardhan and Shetty have been able to make 100 per cent customized organic pencils and pens for their respective customers and audience. The we-inspiring tale of two such dynamic personalities who had to claw all their way to the top is certainly something to count on.

Abhay Jodhpurkar

Abhay Jodhpurkar, the embodiment of versatility in singing, has been in the music industry for more than six years. His best known works include the melodious duets, “Moongil Thottam” from the movie "Kadal" and “Vinmeen Vithaiyil” from the movie "Thegidi". Born to a middle-class family in a small town in Madhya Pradesh, moved to Chennai to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree and also mastered Hindustani Classical and Qawwali, a form of Sufi devotional music. AR Rahman called him in to sing Kalaams (Sufi devotional songs) after he heard him sing at his school and that marked the beginning of his musical career. It is his proficiency in Qawwali that led to his first debut as a playback singer under AR Rahman, which developed into a masterpiece titled ‘Moongil Thottam’. He is a part of a band called ‘Sanskruti’ and also an acapella music troop called the ‘NAFS’ comprising only of singers. He cites Carnatic Music and Bharatanatyam as his favourites but this singer with an angelic voice that makes heavens sigh, is surely our favourite.

Mr B. Anbuthambi Bhojarajan is the Vice president of ICT Academy, an initiative of the Government of India in collaboration with the State Governments and industries. Having started his work as a normal employee he has traveled a brilliant career path through his consistent and diligent efforts and today he is in an authoritative position. He has won ‘Power to Empower 2013’, a National skill enterprise challenge conducted by National Skill Development Corporation, Government of India. With 18 years of experience in the Education and IT / ITES Industries, he is now responsible for Strategic Planning, Managing Nationwide Academic Initiatives, Global Corporate Partnerships, Government Projects, Education Technology, Marketing, and Advocacy.
